Hackfest 2024: Land of Bad

The 2024 Hackfest featured Gary "Picasso" Mullen-Schulz (sic) defending his title in northern Illinois. It took place from September 5-8.

Results

Brian "Duke" Dukart is our new 2024 Birdie King! Congrats, Duker!

Duke and our esteemed Artistic Director ended up in a tie for first place. As stipulated by the rules, a round of rock-paper-scissors ensued, best two of three. The match unfolded as follows:

  1. Duke: scissors; Brett: paper. Duke 1, Brett 0.
  2. Duke: rock; Brett: paper. Duke 1, Brett 1.
  3. Duke: paper; Brett: rock. Duke 2, Brett 1.

Lodging

Lodging was at 7002 Perrietta Lane, Rockford, IL 61107. Thanks to Legend Eric "E the V" Petersen for finding and reserving!

Golf Venues

Thursday's practice round took place at: Aldeen Golf Club. Tee times commenced at 1:10PM.

Friday's round locale was Sandy Hollow Golf Course. The Birdie King lost his crown at 12:20PM. The Champion's Dinner was held at Garrett's Restaurant and Bar.

Saturday's course was Ingersoll Golf Course. First tee time was at 12:20PM. The online description is as follows: "This wooded 18-hole course with narrow fairways and gently rolling terrain offers 6,107 challenging yards on its par 71 course."

Sunday's deciding round took place at Aldeen Golf Club starting at 8:00AM.

Pre-Fest Note from the Artistic Director

All Hail the avuncular Reign of Picasso!

We find ourselves Trentless, back on the familiar Hackfest dates, but in the weird land of Lincoln.

Picasso will paint his last masterpiece (his opening drive) at 12:20 on Friday September 6th. The rules for the 2024 Hackfest are online, and supporting information is below:

1. Rules: you will have a marshall to help with rule interpretations, but please take the time to understand the rules applicable to you in any particular round.

2. 12 (?) of us play Thursday: Travis, Brett, Picaso, David, JK, Rhino, E, the Birdie King, [The] Panther, Gator, T, and Duke; 17 of us play Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

3. First tee times are: Thursday, September 5, 1:00 at Aldeen, Friday at 12:20 at Sandy Hollow, Saturday, 12:20 at Ingersoll, Sunday, 8:00 am at Aldeen.

4. All courses are near our lodging at 7002 Perrietta Lane, Rockford, IL 61107. Aldeen is about 1 mile away, Sandy Hollow about 8, and Ingersoll about 10.

5. Champions dinner is Friday night at at Garrett's Restaurant and Bar (as chosen by the Birdie King). Everyone contributes to help pay for the no-longer-Birdie King's dinner.

6. Thursday's Round is unsanctioned by the Hackfest governing body, Friday and Saturday determine the Hackfest team champion (not MTAT); Saturday and Sunday determine individual glory.

7. $30 entry fee -pay me when you first see me. CASH. I will not talk to you or allow you to participate in Hackfest related events until I get $30 cash from you (some $5 bills and singles appreciated). No EFTs or IOUs. That money pays: $150 to the Birdie King on Sunday; $30 to each winning team member on Saturday; 2 skins each day Friday-Sunday in the amount of $15-20 each for lowest score (relative to par) on highest handicapped hole (or next, or next, etc. . . ) in each 9-hole format. If no single winner (ties among teams and individuals) the money is pushed to up the value of the rest of the skins.

8. Because you don't remember your team memberships, they are: Team F*** Those Guys: Duane, Chaz, Travis, Brett, Gary, Jeff, David, Duke, and Panther. Mr. T. and A Team: Tom, Trent, John, Phil, Roger, Eric, Ding, Spesh, and Tim. You are expected to wear sanctioned team gear on Friday and Saturday.
