Post-Fest Note from the Artistic Director
Allow me a brief coda of sorts on the recently completed Not-a-Hackfest.
First, my many thanks to all of you for showing up and playing. I had fun, and I'm the one that matters, therefore the events were a success.
Second, thanks to those of you who normally participate, but did not do so this year. You have proven yourselves smarter than the rest of us, and more boring. The events were greatly improved by your absences.
Third, a brief, fleeting mention of Gary, who on Sunday last, beat out seven other golfers in a hastily modified shadow version of a Hackfest Day 2. I hereby anoint Gary the 2020 Hackfest Princess.
Fourth, a serious shout out to Richard Hidani. Tim's dad was a past participant of the Hackfest and passed away the week of what would have been this year's Hackfest. Dick and Tim are to blame for my interest in golf. Dick had recently (7 or 8 years ago?) shot his age a few times (in his early 80s), and memorably played Gary, Tim, and I to a standstill (91s for everyone I believe), at Baker National about 15 years ago--in the midst of undergoing cancer treatments--when the weather was sunny and in the mid 90s--and we walked--he was in his early 70s then. He led a happy life, and people were happy knowing him. Not much better can be said about anyone. Those of you who can still (or could ever) read will note that on Hackfest.org Dick has been named the 2020 Hackfest Champion.
There is not much left to say, other than to invite you to get your Covid on. 2021 will doubtless only be worse, and the misery of next years Hackfest looms.
With all the fake respect I can muster, I remain ever so humbly yours,
Brett JohnsonHackfest Artistic Director

Official Cancellation from the Artistic Director
Hackfesters and Mike S.,
No Birdie King again this year. Too many Covid issues to hold the Hackfest. While there will be no official event this year, Marie and I will be coming to Minneapolis Fri-Sun, Sept 11-13 for one round of golf each day. Friday and Saturday golf will probably be out near Tim’s house. Sunday it will likely be in the far eastern burbs or near-Western Wisconsin. I am Happy to make tee times, but please let me know as soon as possible if you want to be included. Phil and Mike S are welcome for any of this as well.
